In this entry, I want to share my experienced with Hyaluronic Acid Derma Fillers injection at The Premier Clinic. First of all, lets talk about Hyaluronic Acid .. the main subject of this Entry.
What is Hyaluronic Acid?
Hyaluronic Acid (HA), also known as hyaluronan or hyaluronate, is a carbohydrate, more specifically a mucopolysaccharide occurring naturally throughout the human body. It can be several thousands of sugars (carbohydrates) long. When not bound to other molecules, it binds to water giving it a stiff viscous quality similar to “Jello”. This viscous Gel is one of the most heavily researched substances in medicine today with thousands of trials mostly in the fields of orthopedics and eye surgery. Its function in the body is, amongst other things, to bind water and to lubricate movable parts of the body, such as joints and muscles. Its consistency and tissue-friendliness allows it to be beneficial in skin-care products as an excellent moisturizer. Because HA is one of the most hydrophilic (water-loving) molecules in nature with numerous benefits for the human body it can be described as "nature's moisturizer".
It is naturally produced in the human body and is chemically classified as a Glycosaminoglycan. In the body, hyaluronic acid always presents itself as a large high molecular weight molecule. The molecule is made up of a repetitive sequence of two modified simple sugars, one called glucuronic acid and the other N acetyl glucosamine. These compounds are both negatively charged and when put together, they repel producing an exceptionally long stretched out molecule (high molecular weight). HA molecules that are long and large in size produce a high viscosity (lubrication) effect which resists compression and allows our joints and skin to bear weight.
Where is Hyaluronic Acid located in the body?
Hyaluronic Acid is found naturally in most every cell in the body and occurs in high concentrations in specific body locations. In each body location, it serves a different function. Unfortunately, HA also has a half-life ( the time it takes for the molecule to get broken down and excreted from the body) of less than 3 days and possibly even as little as one day in the skin. For this reason, it is imperative that the body continually replenish itself with HA.
HA is found in bones and cartilage structure, lips, eyes, gum tissue, scalp tissue and hair follicles, tendon/ligaments and connective tissue and almost 50% of the HA in our body is found in our skin.
HA and collagen works together to provide us a healthy glowing skin. Collagen work as a glue that tighten and hold the skin muscle and HA which is the water-loving molecules provides a natural moisture to our skin. However, both has its own life spend and as times goes by our body lose this two precious natural ingredients.
In this current era, HA is a common ingredient in skin-care products. Until recently, hyaluronic acid fillers were injected through the nerves and vessels for better absorption.

But before the procedure, I have to undergone a Consultation session with Dr. Kee Yong Seng, The Aesthetic Doctor. Dr. Kee gave me a detail explanation on what Derma Fillers injection is, how the procedure will be done .. etc .. etc. I went home thinking about it and returned to the Clinic few weeks after for the treatment.
HOW DOES HA DERMA FILLERS WORK ?
It is an effective anti-aging method, no down time is needed for this treatment and it produces results that look natural in a very short period of time.
The procedure is suitable for all types of skin and no allergies will be triggered as hyaluronic acid is naturally produced by the body.
HOW OFTEN
Dermal fillers can last for more than a year, but this varies depending on the patient. As the hyaluronic acid is natural, the body will eventually break it down and absorb it, so dermal fillers are not a permanent treatment. This also means you will not need to worry about maintaining a look you are unsatisfied with if the treatment is not suitable for you.
RECOVERY
Most people are able to return to their daily routine immediately after treatment without any problems. Some redness, minor swelling or bruising may occur in the treatment area but this is easily hidden with mineral make-up.
After satisfied with Dr. Kee's detail explanation, I decided to proceed with derma fillers injection.
First, because its safe. HA adalah bahan semulajadi yang sedia ada di dalam badan kita dan digunakan di dalam kebanyakan 'skincare' so for me its ibarat mengambil Suntikan Vitamin C for better absorption. Ramai yang ambik suntikan Vitamin C, kan.
Secondly, kerana ia tidak bersifat Kekal. Sebagai seorang yang beragama Islam, kita tidak boleh mengubah kejadian Allah SWT. Derma filler injection tidak mengubah paras rupa sebaliknya ia bertujuan untuk menambah vitamin/kelembapan ke dalam badan kita yang mana ianya bermanfaat bukan sahaja untuk kecantikan tetapi juga untuk kesihatan.
Thirdly, because Premier Clinic is a registered Clinic with Ministry of Health, Malaysia.
Other than that, the Clinic do provide some Vibration machine and Ice on our skin so that we dont really feel the pain.
Seriously, for the first time in my life I felt that Injection is not painful at all. Langsung tak sakit .. like .. I dont mind to get more injection .. LOL!!
Dr. Kee is filling the Derma Fillers into my nerves while the nurse put on the vibrator on my forehead so that I dont feel the pain. Unfortunately, I have a sensitive skin. I had a minor swollen a day or two after the injection dan ada sedikit rasa gatal-gatal pada muka selepas makan Seafood, a day after the injection. Lepas tu dah Ok.
A week after the treatment, I had dinner with my girlfriend ~ Your skin glowing Ella .. so nice. Last time your skin wasn't like this. What did you do with your skin? Ohhh its Dermal fillers darling. I had enough HA on my skin now. That is the reason why its glowing and my skin are healthier.
