International Gibbons Day at Sunway University, 1 November 2017

Today lets talk about a cute creations call Gibbons. Gibbons are apes but a smaller apes. Gibbons are differ from great apes like chimpanzees, gorilla or orangutans but originally they are in the same category. Gibbons are also known as ungka or siamang or kera.

Gibbons are cute primates and are a social animals! They are engineers in the forest and the only apes that sing beautifully in the forest.  They sing and dance (swing) in the forest. Have you heard them singing? Yes I heard them singing before. Best suara gibbons .. beautiful voices they had. Unfortunately I can only heard them but cant find them because when gibbons sing, their voices can be heard for a distance of up to 1km. 

Gibbons is also known as the most loyal mamals. They always retain the same mate for life. In addition if the gibbon fall in love with another gibbon, the pair usually 'divorce'. If you have a loyal partner, call him or her Ms or Mr Gibbons ya!

The world celebrated International Gibbons Day on 1st November 2017. Gibbons Protection Society Malaysia (GPSM) and Sunway Student Volunteer has taken an initiative to host International Gibbons Day at Sunway University. Many activities were line up for visitors which includes photo booth, educational talk, performances, quiz, games, charity sales and many more.

Puan Sri To' Puan Datuk Shariffa Sabrina, PEKA Malaysia's President was the Guest of Honour of the day. With the tagline 'Save The Gibbons. Be Their Hero' Puan Sri Sabrina in her speech delivered her message to the audience on how importance for us to keep our forest which is also a home for gibbons.

Gibbons are cute. Forest is their home. They build their family in the forest, they dance and sing in the forest. Gibbons are not pet. Say NO to pet trade. Help to send them back by protecting the forest ~ PEKA's message to the world.
