World Fashion Week (WFW) is back after it was first introduced in year 2010 in Shanghai, China with 5 designers from 5 continents.
Since its first embarked 7 years ago, this prestige annual event has come a long way. WFW 2017 which will be held from 15 to 19 November at the Louvre Museum Tuileries Gardens in Paris has received an outstanding number of participants from various countries such as Spain, South Africa, Argentina, Canada, Thailand, Indonesia, Tanzania, Russia, Sweden, Mexico, Senegal, Japan, China, Vietnam, Columbia, Italy, Nigeria, USA, Malaysia and many more.

The announcement of Malaysia's participation and the official appointment of WFW ambassador for environment responsibility, Yang Berbahagia Puan Sri To' Puan Dato Shariffa Sabrina Syed Akil was held on 23 May 2017 at Saloma Bistro Restaurant, Kuala Lumpur with the presenced of WFW Chairman and Founder, Paco De Jaimes.

Following this wonderful 'Road to Paris' journey, WFW has appointed GID (M) Sdn Bhd, to organise the first World Fashion Week Malaysian Chapter to be held from September 8-10 at Taman Botani Negara, Taman Tasik Perdana in Kuala Lumpur. The event will welcome fashion designers and representatives from over 100 countries and will be grace by the presence of YM Tengku Permaisuri Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin Abdul Rahman.
With the theme 'Eco Fashion & Lifestyles - Love The Nature', WFW Malaysian Chapter 2017 is a celebration of fashion and cultural identity presenting elaborate fashion show by country and will gather thousands of visitors from Malaysia and international community including the official global broadcaster - Fashion TV - reaching an audience of over 300 million people in 190 countries.
Other than the elaborate runway shows by country, this international show will also present resort collections, trends and tendencies of 2018 as well as designer and photography competitions where the winners will join Supermodel Adriana Lima in the upcoming Hollywood TV Series "American Beauty Star" for 2018.
In addition, WFW Malaysian Chapter 2017 will introduce its commitment and awareness towards environmental responsibility, with a special focus in deforestation control and biodiversity preservation in Malaysia and worldwide.
Yang Berbahagia Puan Sri To' Puan Dato Shariffa Sabrina Syed Akil who is the President of Pertubuhan Pelindung Khazanah Alam (PEKA) Malaysia, was chosen as the WFW Malaysian Chapter Ambassador due to her contribution in creating awareness towards environmental responsibility. She said 'Fashion is universal in everyone's lives, having said that, I think is imperative that we pay attention to what we are wearing and where it came from'

Meanwhile, Puan Maziah Mohamad, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Gid (M) Sdn Bhd in her announcement highlighted that WFW Malaysia Chapter welcomes participation of emerging talents in the fashion industry with the theme fashion through culture and nature. This event will expose emerging local designers to the international stage with 20 local participants representing Malaysia in WFW Paris 2017.
Other than that, a line-up of fashionable pre-event will also take place starting this August such as World Fashion Supermodel (WFSM) competition, World Fashion Exhibition (WFE), World Photography Contest (WFP), Fashion Talk, Fashion Preview and Fashion Fun Run in September 2017.
In line with its international event objectives, WFW Malaysian Chapter 2017 promotes global unity, development, as well as corporate environmental responsibility. WFW holds a major focus on the eradication of poverty in the African continent by empowerment of women in developing countries, promoting fair trade, unity and global peace.
