Recently, I was invited to the launched of the quintessential Travel Cake by Anchor Food Professionals, the foodservices arm of Fonterra Brands Malaysia.
Travel cakes are classic loaf-style cakes, inspired by France's "gateaus de voyage" delicious specialty cakes that were brought from one city to another, in the past and even now.
To endure the travel, it needed to keep well and this is usually achieved by using the best quality butter.
For travel cakes, it definitely makes a difference when it is made using a pure butter and the Anchor Travel Cakes were created using Anchor Tinned Butter which is the ideal butter for travel cakes as it is made from pure and natural dairy from grass-fed cows in New Zealand. It is a premium butter perfect for baked goods as it is aromatic and has a soft and smooth texture.
In conjunction with the upcoming season of gifting and sharing, three variants of the Anchor Travel Cakes were launched and will be available starting from 1 December 2016, in 15 selected bakeries nationwide and over 57 outlets.
The three variants of the Anchor Travel cakes are :
Chocolate Prune Travel Cake
a mixture of pitted prune, apricots and dark chocolate chunks encased in a moist chocolate butter cake
Earl Grey Apricot Travel cake
earl grey tea infused apricot in fragrant earl grey tea butter cake
Orange Cranberry Travel Cake
plump & juicy cranberries soaked in orange juice, in a buttery orange scented cake.
Ms Linda Tan, Director of Anchor Food Professionals Malaysia at the launched said that the We hope to bring back the old delightful tradition of gifting and sharing cakes during festivities, with ideas on inspiration on how to personalize the cakes to be enjoyed at home or given as gourmet gifts for different occasions.
During the launched, the Anchor Food Professional Pastry Chefs, took the experience a notch up by demonstrating ways to enhance the enjoyment of the cakes by serving them up as cake pops, simply sliced and served with ice cream of glazed for a personal touch.
The Anchor Travel Cakes are versatile and can be enjoy in many ways .. during Tea Time with your loved one.

The Anchor Travel Cakes will be available in over 57 outlets of these bakeries : RT Pastry House, boite a bijous, Thyme Bakery and Trendy Bakery in the Klang Valley, Kek Sayang in Kedah, Savour @ Bread History in Penang, The Baker's Hut, Born & Bread and Happy Angel's Cake in Perak, Seremban Toast House in Negeri Sembilan, Baker's Ville in Johor, Walnut Bakery in Sabah and Taka Cake House, MA Baker and Farley Bakery in Sarawak. Anchor Travel Cakes will vary in the presentation, size and packaging based on each bakery's unique customer preference.
As part of the campaign, Anchor Food Professionals will be giving away a set of designer dessert spoons with every purchase of two travel cakes during its availability at the partner bakeries from 1 December 2016 to 31 January 2017.
