The launched of Fitness Drummin' and WSFFM's Fitness Day

I recently had the opportunity to experienced Fitness Drummin', a new fitness workout program which was launched in conjunction with Women's Sports And Fitness Foundation Malaysia (WSFFM) day.

Fitness Drummin' is a brainchild of WSFFM's President, Puan Sri Shariffa Sabrina Syed Akil after a series of research. It is a combination of aerobics workout using our Malaysia traditional music instrument Kompang. The focus of Fitness Drummin' workout is to burn extra calories as well as to tone and lengthen our body muscle.

Puan Sri Shariffa Sabrina who is also a Professional Fitness Instructor with more than 20 years experience hope that Fitness Drummin' will be one of the popular fitness exercise and become a choice of Malaysians in implementing a healthy lifestyle.

Kompang

I had the opportunity to try Fitness Drummin' Workout with other 40 participants during the launched.

In Fitness Drummin' we were taught to listen and focus on the tempo and move our body according to the beat

Fitness Drummin' prioritize the movement of the whole body physically. While you shake you body according to the tempo, your hands beat the drum (in Fitness Drummin' we use Kompang) using the drum stick which produced additional sound, adding more fun to the existing music. 


Fitness Drummin' is a combination of cardio dance workout and muscle conditioning in a sleek and fun way. We can be creative with the body movement and the music chosen. We do not only burn those unwanted fat but we strengthen and lengthen our body muscle too through the varieties of the body movement.


Earlier before the launched, Stik2Stik exercise and Aerodance workout were also made available for the participants. This is part of the WSFFM program for this year.

According to Puan Sri Shariffa Sabrina ~ This is part of WSFFM's contribution to educate and encouraged the society to implement a healthy lifestyle through fitness, exercise and sport. 

Being someone who has been involved in healthy lifestyle since I was 20s, I seriously love Fitness Drummin. Its fun! and It is a brilliant idea to use kompang as it attracted a lot of attention, tourist especially and I believed this will help to raise the prestige of our traditional musical instrument to a higher level. Kalau kita tak berbangga dengan imej kita, tradisi kita, siapa lagi, kan.

Good news is, WSFFM plans to hold Fitness Drummin' Roadshow and workshop nationwide in order to introduce Fitness Drummin' to the society.
