Hello lovely readers ..
Do you know that the French community in Malaysia celebrates Le French Festivals every year? Every year, nearly 12,500 people will gather to take part in various events organised by the Alliance Francaise and the Embassy of France in Malaysia in several locations of Kuala Lumpur, Penang and with additional location which is Kota Kinabalu for the first time this year.
The Festival which highlighted the best of French performing arts, visual arts and cinema, education, gastronomy and science focus are to create linkage between French and Malaysian cultures.
I personally attended the Flea Market which was held at Alliance Francaise last year. It was fun!! Talking about French gastronomy, among activities organised were Bonjour France ~ A Taste of France. A few series of roadshow performing the art of French gastronomy was organised in collaboration with the partners, Le Cordon Bleu.
I recently had an opportunity to watch a workshop on how to cook Tarte Tartin, an upside down pastry in which the fruit (usually apples) are caramelized in butter and sugar before the tart is baked. Tarte Tartin is originated in France and has spread to other countries and became famous over the years. I love Tarte Tartin too!
The cooking workshop which was organised by Le Cordon Bleu took place at Bangsar Shopping Centre and its open to public. I came to support the cooking demonstration workshop by my favourite French cafe, Chez Leoniel.
We were taught on the right technique on how to bake a Tarte Tartin by Chef Leoniel. Mix Butter and Sugar in pan .. stir it well to avoid uneven burnt sides. Stir regularly until the sugar begins to caramelize.
Add in appples. Keep on stirring it for 20 minutes and ensure to baste the apples with those cooking juices.
Arrange the apples facing all at the same directions. Make sure to arrange them fairly and tight. Roll out the pastry puff. Bake until the pasty is nicely brown at 175 degree celcius around 15 minutes.
Tadaaaaaa .. its ready!
Mmmmmmm .. Yummy!
